Restoration

I don’t know about you, but I’m a real sucker when it comes to flipping houses. I’m addicted to all the shows that have anything to do with flipping. My favorite show is Fixer Upper, and I was heart sick when it was announced that they were no longer filming. Who doesn’t love seeing something that’s fallen into disrepair transformed and restored to its original glory?

It’s one thing to take a run down house that’s uninhabitable, and restore the kitchen and bathrooms, lay new flooring, etc. in order to “fix it up,” and a totally different thing to take something that can’t be fixed up and make something even better. This is what God does with us. He didn’t just make us look good, He completely restored us! He did a gut job on our insides; all new wiring, plumbing, HVAC, etc. and restored us to our original state before sin entered the picture.

God is in the restoration business by taking hard hearts that are controlled by evil and making them new and giving us a new spirit that is in sync with His Spirit. He’s restoring sin-ravaged lives with new life and turning what was unusable to something of honor for Himself to dwell. Joel 2:24b-25a “Then I will make up to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.” There is nothing and no one that cannot be restored to the glory in which God intended it from the beginning. Revelation 21:5 “And He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’”
