A Faithful God

Valleys are the perfect place to discover that we have a faithful God; a God who heals the brokenhearted, who gives rain in the midst of a drought, who comforts and encourages the discouraged, who gives strength to the weak and who gives grace to the humble. I never tire from how God shows up in those valley moments, even seasons, when everything looks hopeless and impossible. He is the God of possibilities. He relishes situations and circumstances that, without divine intervention, are hopeless and impossible, because this is where God is glorified most. In addition to His glory, this is where we experience a faithful God.

A few months ago, my son was pulled over for driving over the speed limit. He works in the automobile industry and he was late to deliver a car, so he was heavy on the pedal. The police officer gave him a ticket for wreckless driving and told him, with his prior history (back in his youth, (he’s married now with 2 kids) he’s looking at jail time. He hired a lawyer and waited for his court date, which was postponed because of Covid-19.

My son is ethnically mixed and, in today’s climate, he was terrified of the outcome of his hearing, particularly, in the state and county he was ticketed, which is notorious for racial prejudice against Black males. Our experience with him in the court system in the past has proven such. My son is a Christian, loves the Lord and together, along with our faith community, summoned the Lord and His mercy. James 5:17 says, “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” DISMISSED!!! He stood before a female judge of color and she saw the man he is today with a clean driving record for the past 6 years, plus, his community service and she dismissed the charge. He left with court fees and having to take a driving improvement class. God is faithful.

Whatever valley you’re walking through, trust God there and you will discover the he is faithful.
